My name is Charlie Caruso, and this is Caruso's Critiques! If you're looking for detailed, honest, and interesting music reviews, you've come to the right place. This is a monthly music review site with album reviews written for music lovers by a music lover, myself. Find out more below!
Here is an outline of how my reviews are structured:
1. Overview of the album and themes
2. Individual song ratings (out of 10) and one-word descriptions
3. My standout tracks
4. My stinker track
5. Conclusion. The conclusion will also include a total album rating out of 10.
I like to think that Caruso's Critiques is separated from other music review sites due to the unique perspective that it gives the reader. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not a music expert. I don't have a complex understanding of music theory or any prior music critiquing experience. I take this as an advantage, as I'm able to write reviews strictly based on how the music sounds and makes me feel. That's as down to earth as it gets, and I feel like people will appreciate that. My goal is to offer honest, detailed reviews that give the reader a real understanding of the music—without the sensationalism or negativity you might see in other places.
The goal of Caruso's Critiques is to upload a batch of 3 to 5 reviews monthly. Usually, there will be 2-4 new album reviews and 1-2 "historical album" reviews. "Historical album" is just the term I use for an album that has been out for a while. For example, my first ever historical album was Thriller by Michael Jackson. These reviews will span many genres and themes, so any reader should be able to find something they are interested in.
